Middlewich medical centre plans still 'on hold'
3:00pm Saturday 13th March 2010
PLANS for an all-in-one medical centre in Middlewich are still ‘on hold’.
As reported in the Guardian, the £9million proposal is ‘hanging in the balance’ as the Primary Care Trust (PCT) is increasingly under pressure from central Government to cut its budget Phil Taylor, managing director of applicant Oakapple, said: “We are hoping to establish if the project is completely dead, or just on hold until the PCT budgets are back within the parameters set by central Government.”
The proposed 3,860 square metre facility was set to transform the existing Oaklands Surgery.
It would have also been the new home for Acorns Surgery and create a PCT clinic, children’s centre, dental practice, pharmacy and all-weather football pitch, which would have been used by Middlewich High School.
Mr Taylor added: “From the little information we have been able to glean it appears everyone still wants the scheme to proceed, and Oakapple, the school and the PCT are all continuing to discuss imaginative ways to keep the project on track.”
